Bacteria and chemical elements in an abstract design as Biomarkers

Comprehensive Biomarker Assessment with Neuropsychological Evaluation

Deviations in eeg and ERP results can serve as valid biological markers for functional diagnoses or for better understanding of cognitive processes using the same processes as those used by our partners who work with the Swiss government and the Neuromodulation Center, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital which is a Division of Harvard Medical School.

What is a Biomarker Assessment?

The new approach assumes that a psychiatric diagnosis is made not only from behavior, but also from the knowledge of which brain system is impaired. It is almost certain that the biomarker approach will become widely accepted because it leads to objectivity and transparency. Like many other researchers, HBImed has already performed extensive research in this field and has defined parameters of quantitative electroencephalogram (QEEG) and components of event-related potentials (ERPs) as highly specific biomarkers for a variety of mental disorders.

Biomarkers are very important to medicine in general. We’re all used to going to the doctor and getting all our test results. Even imaging such as x-ray results or CAT scans are biomarkers that tell how the body is doing, and they are measurable.

Recent research shows that certain dysfunctions, such as ADHD, schizophrenia, OCD, depression, specific learning disabilities, and others are associated with specific patterns in spontaneous and evoked electrical potentials, recorded from the head by multiple surface electrodes .  These spontaneous patterns provide reliable markers of the brain function and dysfunction.

We use biomarkers that are generated in the EEG to tell you about what your brain is doing.

Examples of Biomarkers

Recent research shows that certain dysfunctions, such as ADHD, schizophrenia, OCD, depression, specific learning disabilities, and others are associated with specific patterns in spontaneous and evoked electrical potentials, recorded from the head by multiple surface electrodes, and that these spontaneous and especially the evoked electric potentials provide reliable markers of the brain function and dysfunction.

What is involved in a Biomarker Assessment?

Biomarkers are collected during the Functional EEG data collection.

Uses of Biomarker Assessments

Biomarker testing is at the center of personalized medicine. The word “biomarker” refers to any measurements of biological functions that can be measured to assess your health. So your blood pressure is actually a biomarker.
