Maximize Career Performance and Satisfaction

Our Approach

In order to perform optimally at one’s career, there are two essential skills. These skills apply regardless of the career in question, and the relative physical or cerebral demands:

Attention/Concentration

The better one is able to focus and sustain focus across time, the better one is able to perform whatever task is presented. There are many factors that can interfere with attention/concentration including ADD/ADHD, anxiety, depression, an overactive mind, etc. The ability to focus one’s mind as needed is a foundation for optimal performance.

Emotional Control

In order to perform at one’s best, there must be an optimal level of physiological arousal. Insufficient arousal (e.g. boredom, lack of motivation, depression) impedes performance, as does over arousal (anxiety, stress, anger, etc). Being able to control one’s emotions, to generate and direct the optimum amount of emotional energy for a given task is the other foundation for optimal performance.

Once the foundations of good attention/concentration and emotional control are set, the other skills specific to a particular career or job can be addressed.  These skills include such skills as: organizational skills, simultaneous processing, successive processing, planning, hand/eye coordination, and memory.

Finally, optimal functioning relies upon a healthy body and a sound mind, which depend upon proper nutrition, sleep, and activity/exercise.

At Sadar Psychological and Sports Center, we will design a program that will strengthen the primary skills of attention and emotional control; address the secondary skills relevant to a particular career; and facilitate and support good nutrition, sufficient sleep, and adequate activity/exercise.

Expected Results

In approximately twenty sessions, you can learn essential skills that make your work/activities more enjoyable, more productive, and less stressful. Insurance plans often cover a portion of the skills training.

Stress Management and Emotional Control

Ultimately, Stress Management and Emotional Control involve having the ability to calm the mind and relax the body.  There are numerous techniques that have been developed to accomplish one or both of these goals. Different techniques work for different people, depending on their personality type, past experiences, physiology, neurology, etc. The key is to find techniques that work for you and then practice them diligently.  Sadar Psychological and Sports Center can help you find the techniques that will work for you, as well as help determine any possible obstacles in your life that may interfere with optimizing your stress management, and ways to address any obstacles.

Optimized Concentration and Focus

As concentration and focus are optimized, as is performance.  There are many aspects to attention/concentration (e.g. achieving focus, maintaining focus, dealing with external distractions, dealing with internal distractions, etc.). Sadar Psychological and Sports Center can help determine your strengths and weaknesses in the areas of concentration and focus, and design a program to improve your ability in any areas of relative weakness.

Improve Organizational Skills

The ability to organize facilitates success.  Being able to organize requires an efficiently functioning brain. There are brainwave patterns that have been associated with the ability to organize. For example, one of the sub-types of ADHD involves too much low frequency amplitude present in the frontal lobes. Such a finding has been associated with problems organizing, sequencing, and completing tasks. Sadar Psychological and Sports Center can assess your brain function, and if certain patterns are found, can devise a program to improve the efficient and effective functioning of your brain to help improve your organizational abilities.
