SUMMARY:Dirk De Ridder and Cindy Van Sleeuwen: Photobiomodulation Study at Otago University
DESCRIPTION:This is lecture 8 in a series that is co-sponsored by Sadar Psychological and Applied Psychology Education. Join 1 talk for $95 or the full series for $695. For $50\, 10 CES are available for those who attend all talks. \n\n\n\nProfessor Dr. Dirk De Ridder is a Neurosurgery professor at the Dunedin School of Medicine\, University of Otago in New Zealand\, where he has been conducting research on neuromodulation and teaching neuroscience for the past 10 years.\nHe is primarily interested in understanding and treating phantom perceptions (sound\, pain) using both invasive (implants) and non-invasive neuromodulation techniques (TMS\, tDCS\, tRNS\, LORETA neurofeedback\, etc.).\nHis research focuses on the common characteristics of conditions such as thalamocortical dysrhythmias (pain\, tinnitus\, Parkinson’s disease\, depression\, slow-wave epilepsy) and dysfunctions of the reward system (addiction\, OCD\, personality disorders\, etc.).\nA third pillar of his research explores the neurobiological processes of the ‘self’ and the ‘other’ and their relationship with social interactions\, philosophy\, and religion.\nDirk De Ridder developed “Burst” and “Noise” stimulations as new designs for implants and continuously seeks improvements\, variations\, and other stimulation concepts.\nSince September 2022\, he has been appointed as ‘adjunct faculty’ in the physiotherapy department at Manipal Academy of Higher Education in India\, where he leads research projects on neuromodulation for rehabilitation. Since March 2023\, he has been appointed as a co-opted Professor in Neurosurgery in the “Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery” department at the University of Bonn in Germany. Together with Prof Dr. Maciaczyk\, he conducts research on new brain implantation and brain stimulation techniques for neurological and psychiatric disorders. Prof Dr. De Ridder teaches applied neuroscience at the Bonn International Graduate Schools.\nSince October 2022\, he has been a guest professor at Trinity College Dublin in Ireland\, where he collaborates with Prof. Dr. Sven Vanneste to further investigate the effects of neuromodulation.\nHe has authored over 40 book chapters\, co-edited the book “Textbook of Tinnitus\,” and three other books on tinnitus. He is the author or co-author of more than 300 scientific articles. He serves as a reviewer for over 100 international scientific journals.\nHe is a co-founder of BRAI3N. \nPhotobiomodulation Study at Otago University\nThis presentation will discuss the current photobiomodulation and infra-slow neurofeedback study as it is being conducted at Ottawa University under the guidance of Dr. DeRidder.\nObj 1: The attendee will be able to describe how the modern use of photobiomodulation and neurofeedback were utilized in a combined clinical trial.\nObj 2: The attendee will be be able to describle 3 main components of the mechanisms of PBM.\nObj 3: The attendee will be able to critique the application of photobiomodulation and infra-slow neurofeedback as an tool to enhance therapeutic outcome.

SUMMARY:Biofeedback Federation of Europe (BFE) 23rd Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Mitchell Sadar is presenting at this conference in Brescia\, Italia. His workshop is titled Whole Self Healing – Aligning Body\, Brain\, & Buried Emotions (using bio-neurofeedback to aide the process). \nBFE’s meeting is often spoken about in terms of the warmth as well as the learning that characterize it. The information below is directly from their website: \nThe BFE Meeting takes place over six days and offers a variety of one and two-day workshops. In addition\, we offer a full day Scientific Program featuring invited speakers\, symposia\, oral and poster presentations. \nINSPIRING SPEAKERS BEAUTIFUL LOCATION GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES\nThe BFE Annual Meeting is an interdisciplinary biofeedback conference to nurture communication and education between specialists from different disciplines. Experts from neurofeedback\, biofeedback\, psychology\, medicine\, physical therapy\, education and other disciplines come together to share and learn. The meeting offers a broad range of basic and applied psychophysiology and biofeedback workshops along with in-depth presentations (lectures\, symposia\, paper sessions\, and posters) during the scientific program. The workshops are instructed by internationally recognized clinicians who demonstrate their latest clinical/educational biofeedback treatment approaches. \nAt our last meeting\, we were proud to welcome delegates from over 30 different countries. Registration is ongoing and the meeting is open to all healthcare practitioners\, and students in health related fields\, who wish to participate.
